Theatrikos 1st Sunday Drama Club Workshop

Topic/Title:  Pointers on How To Do a Cold Read of a Script

How do you best do a cold read at an audition?  Theatre auditions come in as many shapes and sizes as there are directors.  That said, one of the most frequent is the cold reading.  What is that? How do you do it well?  This is the most frequent form of auditions at Theatrikos and many other similar size theatres.  At the audition, the director is rooting for you.  We want you to succeed.  This free 1st Sunday Drama Club workshop will give you some good pointers.  These pointers will revolve around Arthur Miller’s famous play The Crucible.  We’ll do a community reading of The Crucible starting later in the month.  You don’t need to attend this drama to attend that community reading.  But the tips will be useful and it’ll be fun

Workshop Leader:  Theatrikos Director John Propster

 The Crucible

Arthur Miller’s 1953 play, a dramatized and partially fictionalized story of the Salem witch trials, was written as an allegory for McCarthyism and touches on themes that are pertinent in today’s America where the very definition of truth is challenged.
