Figure Drawing with Instruction – POSTPONED @ Coconino Center for the Arts
Sep 30 @ 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm

*This workshop has been postponed to January 2020. Confirmed dates will be announced soon.

The Flagstaff Arts Council presents a weekly Figure Drawing Workshop led by Shawn Skabelund beginning  Monday, September 30th, 2019! The workshop consists of 5 three-hour sessions drawing from a live model. The sessions will be held in the gallery at the Coconino Center for the Arts on Monday evenings, 6-9pm

Nothing can be more enjoyable, yet at the same time more demanding, than drawing from the figure. It takes total concentration and can be very taxing by the time a particular session comes to a close, but as one concentrates, one wonders where the time has gone by.

In this course, the instructor uses the formal elements of drawing in describing the figure. Through a series of exercises, students will expand our drawing/seeing skills. The course is specifically set up to help students to see form and apply it onto a two-dimensional surface.

This is an opportunity to study and receive personal instruction in figure drawing from award-winning artist, Shawn Skabelund.  Shawn holds degrees from Utah State University and the University of Iowa. A nationally exhibited artist, his work has been featured in Sculpture Magazine and numerous regional publications. Shawn is also a Viola Visual Arts award winner for his exhibition Virga: The Hunt for Water.

NOTE: This course is for those who have never drawn from the figure before or have had beginning figure drawing, but have never moved into intermediate or advanced figure drawing courses.

Pricing:  $140 for Arts Council members & $155 for non-members.

If you have questions about this session, contact Sarah Smallwood at (928) 779-2300 x103.
