The Artists’ Coalition of Flagstaff presents
Looking Back: Woodstock 50 Years Ago
a film by Alberto Engeli
“Looking Back-Woodstock: 50 Years Ago” is a nostalgic look at the unforgettable and extraordinary Festival through first-person accounts and interviews with Woodstock performers, attendees and organizers. The film recounts their memories of one of the most famous concerts in rock history. Not only did Woodstock rock Max Yasgur’s farm, it also rocked the world.
Revisiting the Woodstock scene and atmosphere in the country in the summer of 1969, Jack Casady and Jorma Kaukonen of Jefferson Airplane, John Sebastian, and the couple photographed for the “Woodstock” Music from the Original Soundtrack and More” album cover were all interviewed by Engeli, along with Flagstaff artist and photographer Mike Frankel, Jefferson Airplane’s personal photographer at the event.
“I met attendees, photographers and musicians who took part in that glorious event; they told me about those days, but also how their lives changed over the next few years,” said Engeli in statement. “I tried to capture its essence, its spirit. I wanted to convey to those who were not there (me, first of all) what that festival really meant.”
A Q and A with the Director ALBERTO ENGELI and MIKE FRANKEL will follow the screening of the film.
The film screening will take place on Saturday, January 25, 2020, doors are at 6:30pm and the show will start at 7pm. Tickets are $6, proceeds will benefit The Artists’ Coalition of Flagstaff. Tickets can be purchased online, in person at Coconino Center for the Arts.
