In collaboration with the Flagstaff Arts Council, The Flagstaff City-Coconino County Public Library proudly presents an event in the Spring 2015 Stories to Life series on Sunday, May 3, 6 p.m. Abraham Lincoln: 150 Years Gone By takes place at the Coconino Center for the Arts.
The performance showcases readings by and about the President featuring music of the era including Lincoln’s favorite songs performed by Springfed featuring the multi-instrumentalists, Tony Norris, Bill Burke & special guest Elena Gonzalez on fiddle.
“It has been 150 years since the passing of the President and the Stories to Life team wanted to mark the anniversary with a special production honoring him. A little known fact about Lincoln is that music was an important part of his life and so we have some wonderful music from the era planned. Lincoln was a gifted writer and the author of some of the best American prose ever written and we plan to read Lincoln’s second inaugural address as well as some of Lincoln’s witty and poignant quotes. This event is going to be a great opportunity to enjoy an evening of music and spoken-word and the audience shouldn’t be surprised if they learn something new about President Lincoln as well. Our management team is really proud to be able to present programming of this caliber for free thanks to the Friends of the Library”, Judy Finney, Librarian and Stories to Life project manager.
Funding for Stories to Life is generously provided by the Friends of the Library.
