Workshop and demonstrations led by experts in stone balancing will take place at the Coconino Center for the Arts on Sunday, September 24 from 9 am to 12 pm. The workshop will be hosted by instructors, Douglas Case and Pieter Schaafsma teaching people the art form of stone balancing as well as how to photograph these fleeting natural creations. The art of stone balancing involves working with different stones and their surfaces to get them to balance on one another in intriguing ways. Participants will learn about creating and photographing stone balances and other natural formations. The dynamic, hands-on presentation will leave participants eager to create their own unique balances and capture the moment with a photograph before the work of art falls and becomes a part of the landscape again.
