Join us for Happy Hour at the Arts Center! Featuring the new art exhibition Emergence, currently on view in the Hidden Light gallery, Michael Pierre Price’s MAPS: Enigmatic Landscapes in the Jewel Gallery, and Echoes of Loss in the Main Gallery.

Happy Hour will be 4-6pm. There will be an Artist Talk by Michael Pierre Price at 5pm. Admission is free. There will be a cash bar.

Emergence features three photographers who were selected as the top prize winners in Hidden Light LLC’s Portfolio Review. In March 2018, three professional photographers reviewed and provided feedback on the portfolios of eighteen emerging photographers. The reviewers were Ted Forbes (The Art of Photography YouTube Channel), Richard Jackson (Master Printer), Eric O’Connell (NAU Photography professor and commercial photographer), and Alan Petersen (Curator of Fine Arts – Museum of Northern Arizona). The show features the works of Chuck Claude, Maxin Mascolo and Terry Greene.

Price’s Artist Talk at 5pm is titled The Making Of & Meaning Behind MAPS: Enigmatic Landscape. Price begins with a snapshot of his background in math & physics, experiences in Native American spirituality, career as a game designer, and inspirations that led him to become an artist. The discussion then moves on to the Surrealist idea of enigma and how that inspired the concepts woven into the exhibition and the artwork that was selected. Several prints will be highlighted in discussion to help illustrate the central themes and symbologies running through the show. The talk will then move on to a look behind the scenes of making the art; including quick overviews about fractals, procedural painting, 3D models, composites, and digital prints.
