Living Traditions Presentations and Flagstaff Arts Council are pleased to present a double-bill concert event featuring The Outside Track and Socks in the Frying Pan at the Coconino Center for the Arts on Thursday, February 26, 2015. Doors open at 6:30 pm and the concert begins at 7:00 pm.
The Outside Track are an award winning Celtic group from Scotland, Ireland, and Cape Breton. Winning Best Group in both the Live Ireland Award and the TIR awards, The Outside Track are one of top Celtics acts in the world. The five members effortlessly fuse traditional and contemporary with winning joie de vivre. Recently joined by acclaimed singer Aoife Scott, the next generation of the legendary Black Family from Ireland, they blend fiddle, accordion, harp, guitar, whistle, step-dance and vocals with breathtaking vitality.
Socks in the Frying Pan comprises two brothers, Shane and Fiachra Hayes on accordion and fiddle/banjo and accompanied by Aodán Coyne on guitar and vocals. This young trio blends Irish traditional melodies with and innovative rhythmic and melodic garnish. Their acoustic musical interplay, three-part harmony, and an obvious love for live performance compliments the traditional essence of both tune and songs in a fresh and entertaining way.
