Growing up in New York, Alex Zawilak fell in love with a wide variety of music. Alex would play and hang with local New York jazz musicians until the wee hours of the morning. Inspired by the solo fingerstyle playing of Joe Pass and the cool lines of Bach, Alex picked up Classical guitar. He finished his Bachelors and Masters of music at Mannes College under the guidance of Classical-Jazz composer-guitarist Frederic Hand. Alex obtained his doctorate in guitar performance at ASU with an emphasis on the study of world music.

The Pee-Yaw Lim Wilkes Memorial Piano Scholarship, established by the NAU Foundation, has been created to provide emerging talent with the tools to excel at their craft and help ensure a bright future. This endowed fund has been established by the Daughters of Pee-Yaw Lim Wilkes. This concert gives an opportunity to support the Arts by making a donation or estate gift in Pee-Yaw’s honor to reach their endowment goal of $25,000.

This show will take place on Saturday, February 10th, 2018 at 7:00 pm. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 on the day of the concert.
