The Flagstaff Volunteer Experience connects you with local non-profits. Learn about volunteer opportunities, learn how to be an excellent Board member, network with like-minded people, and give back to your community.
The program includes three main components:
Board Member Training 101
12:30-2:00pm. What does a Board member do? What does a good Board member do? If you are a Board member, interested in being a Board member, and have wondered what it means to be of excellent service to your organization, this session is for you. The session will cover Board member roles and duties, as well as the differences between organizations with and without paid staff. We’ll also cover how Board members can help with fund raising without having to ask for money.
The session will be led by Jenean Perelstein, and include a short panel discussion with experienced Board members in Flagstaff non-profit organizations.
Non-Profit Volunteer Fair
12:30-5:00pm. Non-profit volunteer fair, with more than a dozen organizations presenting hundreds of volunteer positions open to you.
3:30-4:30pm. Stories of volunteering, an opportunity to learn from long-time Flagstaff volunteers about their experiences
The event connects local people and non-profits by sharing information and training activities and offering a space in which current and potential volunteers and volunteer coordinators from around Flagstaff can meet, share resources and cross-pollinate to improve volunteer experiences and training at of our Flagstaff non-profits. We believe by better understanding each other’s missions, we can improve volunteer experiences, visitor experiences and further educate the people of Flagstaff on the abundant cultural resources our sites have to offer.
