Capoeira+Angola+Roda

One of the funded programs this year is Flagstaff Capoeira Angola.

To celebrate this year’s recipients of grant funding through the Art & Science Fund grant program, the Flagstaff Arts Council will host a reception at Flagstaff City Hall in Council Chambers on Wednesday, August 31, 2016, at 5pm. The event will include highlights of this year’s funded programs, an update on the next economic impact of the arts and sciences, and performances.

This year, the City of Flagstaff has increased its investment in the non-profit arts and sciences sector. Funding for fiscal year 2017 increased by 20%, following the trend of rising Bed, Board and Beverage (BBB) tax revenues. The increase includes a special allocation for new STEM programs in Flagstaff.

The Flagstaff Arts Council, which allocates grant funding and manages the year-round grant program, has announced recipients of the 2016-17 Art & Science Fund grant program. The Board of Directors of the Arts Council met in June to ratify the recommendations of a citizen review panel, providing funds to non-profit organizations in support of art, culture and science programs that serve residents of and visitors to Flagstaff, Arizona. Art & Science Fund grants are funded entirely through a portion of the City of Flagstaff’s Bed, Board and Beverage (BBB) Revenues.

Thirty-nine non-profit organizations will receive funding totaling $334,500. General Operating Support (GOS) grants were provided to 27 non-profit arts, culture and/or science organizations that provide direct services to residents of and visitors to Flagstaff, Arizona. Twelve grants for Project Support were provided to other non-profit organizations that produce arts, culture and/or science programs that provide a direct public benefit to the community. Funding supports public programs occurring between July 1, 2016, and June 30, 2017.
