2019 Viola Award Finalist for Excellence in Community Impact (Organization)
Freeman Law PLLC is a multi-disciplinary law firm whose focus is to provide creative legal solutions and proactive strategies to businesses and individuals. Shelton “Tony” Freeman, launched Freeman Law in 2013 with offices in Flagstaff and Scottsdale.
Tony and his team bring a passion to their work that extends beyond their primary legal services. They focus on the overall impact of the legal issues facing their clients and work closely with them to manage the process and outcome. To help develop this creative approach, Tony’s nature photography is prominently displayed in both offices.
Tony turns his love of the outdoors into capturing unique glimpses of nature all over the globe in photographic images. His company, Nature Exposed Photography has been a participant and supporter of Flagstaff’s First Friday ArtWalk for ten years and he regularly hosts Art Walks in both Flagstaff and Scottsdale. He opens his Flagstaff office as a gallery and reception space every April through September. Tony supports the arts as a sponsor of major art events in the community, including exhibitions at the Coconino Center for the Arts.
In 2014, Nature Exposed Photography significantly raised its game in support of and participation in the arts. It launched the first Youth Lens Photography Contest and exhibition. The program encourages high school student photographers to submit their best photos for consideration in a city-wide contest. Last year, the jury included Tony Freeman, Matt Beaty and Tom Alexander with selected photographs to be included in an exhibition that are displayed for three ArtWalk events in the summer. They also selected three prize winners, and the firm funded the awards that included cash prizes, certificates and quality prints.
Still going strong in 2018, the program continues to grow and brings local professionals into classrooms to teach students photography skills. Last year the Youth Lens Photography Contest received over 200 entries. The judges were extremely impressed with the work turned in by our local high school photographers. It is an awesome opportunity for young photographers in our community.
The participation by Freeman Law and Nature Exposed Photography and their support of the arts provides our community with more events and greater opportunities for new artists. Youth Lens Webpage
