Showing in the Hidden Light Gallery at the Coconino Center for the Arts, River Reflections features nine different artists. On May 5, 2017, this group of artists embarked on a nine-day adventure on the Colorado River. This trip, designed specifically for painters and photographers, allowed each artist to work early in the morning, then later in the afternoon and evening to capture the beauty, mystery, and light of Grand Canyon from a perspective most visitors never see.
River Reflections opens with a Reception on Saturday, January 13, 2018, from 6-8pm. It opens alongside Arrangement for a Silent Orchestra in the Main Gallery, and A Choctaw Story of Land and Blood in the Jewel Gallery. River Reflections will remain open through April 7, 2018. The gallery is open Tu-Sa 11am-5pm.
Each artist will compose a short story about the impact this river journey had on their art and their lives. That narrative will be displayed alongside their art work.
The artists participating in River Reflections are: Dawn Sutherland, Don Warren, Paula Swain, Margo Levin, Robert Dalegowski, Lynn Heil, Carolyn Simpson, Steve Schaefer, and Ellen Bennet.
The Hidden Light Gallery was established in 2016 to provide additional quality space in the Coconino Center for the Arts to showcase local and regional artists and to feature fine art photography. The Gallery is generously sponsored by:
