2017 Viola Award Nominee for Business for the Arts

Tom Alexander is widely considered the preeminent professional photographer of artwork in Northern Arizona. Through his studio in Flagstaff, he serves over 100 artists each year through his business, including well-known artists such as Bruce Aiken, Tina Mion, Shonto Begay and Curt Walters. He teaches a class through the ArtBox Institute on the principles of photographing artwork as well as teaching students at Basis. He also specializes in art reproduction including Gicleé printing and photographic printing on paper and canvas.

His photographs were featured in an exhibition at Theatrikos Theatre Company in November and December 2015, and in the Local Color exhibition at the Coconino Center for the Arts in April and May 2014. Tom also has an ongoing rotating show at Café Daily Fare.

Tom also gives back to the community. He spent 2 days working with 15 fifth-grade students to complete a photography project, which was sponsored by Through Each Others Eyes, a Phoenix based nonprofit photography organization. The students’ photographs were then framed and placed in an exhibition that showed in the community. Tom shot the poster image for the Full Monty at Theatrikos Theatre Company and does headshots for Flagstaff Light Opera Company, and he was one of the first businesses to participate in the Cash for Local Change program.  More recently, Tom helps to judge the Youth Lens photography show featuring work of local high school students.  The student work is displayed at Freeman Law Firm in the summer. Tom also donates his photos and services to local charities for auctions.

Tom recently expanded his studio into a new space at a new location, 1600 W University Ave #213.
