The popular fine craft exhibition, It’s Elemental, showcases works of art by the finest craftspeople in Northern Arizona. The annual juried show features jewelry, ceramics, glasswork, wood, furniture, fabric, sculpture and more. The 2016 exhibition is slated for November 15 – December 17, Tuesday-Saturday, 11:00am-5:00pm. The members’ preview reception will be held on Friday, November 11, 6-8pm, and a public opening reception on Saturday, November 12, 6-8pm.
It’s Elemental is an annual exhibition at the Coconino Center for the Arts, serving as a perfect lead up to the holiday season. It has its roots from the earliest days at the Center, from the mid-1980′s to the mid-1990′s. Back then, the exhibition was titled, “Wood, Fiber, Clay.” The Center closed in the late 1990′s, but when it reopened in 2001, the exhibition returned with its current name and concept.
In our lobby, we host It’s Ornamental on our Christmas Tree. Many of the participating artists have created one-of-a-kind handmade ornaments for the holiday season. They donated these to the Arts Council, and we sell them at affordable prices ($5 – $35) to raise money to support exhibitions at the Coconino Center for the Arts.
The exhibition is accompanied by the Fine Craft Sale on December 3-4, 2016, from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 12 – 4 p.m on Sunday. The Fine Craft Sale is a juried holiday marketplace featuring local craftspeople. Now in its ninth year, the Sale is a popular fixture in Flagstaff’s holiday season.
