Opening in the new Hidden Light Gallery in the Coconino Center for the Arts!
A Wild Beauty celebrates the character, beauty, and history of the land and people of Coconino County for its 125th Anniversary of its establishment.
Founded in 1891, Coconino County is spread over 18,661 square miles, making it the second largest county in the United States. Situated on the enormous Colorado Plateau, it is home to countless wildlife, lakes, mountains (including the tallest in the state, Humphrey’s Peak), forest, desert, Grand Canyon National Park, as well as the Havasupai, Navajo, Hualapai, and Hopi Nations. Much of its land is protected within the bounds of national forests, and there are several national monuments dotted throughout the expansive landscape. Its history is long and its beauty is breathtaking and varied.
A Wild Beauty will open with a reception on Friday, October 14, 2016, from 4-6pm. The exhibition will remain open thereafter from 11am-5pm, Tuesdays through Saturdays, until December 17, 2016.
The exhibition features paintings, prints, and photography.
