The 2016 ArtBox Institute is shaping up to be the best edition of the program yet. It will feature experts and artists from across the country as well as local leaders who will teach individual sessions in the semester-long Institute. The application is now open for the 2016 session, which takes place from January through May, 2016. The deadline to apply is November 3, 2015.
The ArtBox Institute is a business training and professional development program for creatives, arts administrators and artists of any medium, any age, at any stage of a career. The ArtBox Institute is designed to provide tools and resources to navigate the business challenges of the contemporary marketplace. The curriculum is calibrated to provide a professional foundation built on acquiring practical skills for the marketplace, increasing confidence and actively participating in a community.
We talked with hundreds of artists. This is what we heard: How do I make a business plan? Do I really need one? What about a social media campaign: Would that help sell my art? I need ideas about creating events. I don’t want the money side to freak me out or slow me down. How do I get from here to there?
So we listened. And here is what we came up with:
- A dynamic roster of instructors who value inter-learning, the lively, the dynamic, the playful and the necessary. Our instructors are professionals in fundraising, marketing, financial planning, writing, photography, organization and business strategies.
- A curriculum that covers dozens of topics with sessions based on experiential learning. Participants will practice what they are taught and coached into applying what is learned in the community.
- The creation of a cohort that functions as a source of networking, collaboration and peer review.
