Now seeking interns for the Summer and Fall 2019.

Flagstaff Arts Council is a busy arts organization that hosts and organizes over 75 events per year, serving a public population of over 50,000 visitors.  Interns are volunteers who earn university credit, and are expected to work 10- 15 hours per week for at least two semesters. The Program Assistant intern reports to the Deputy Director, the Gallery Assistant reports to the Executive Director, and the Graphic Design Assistant reports to the Marketing Director. Hired candidates are eligible for up to 3 credits if currently enrolled at Northern Arizona University or Coconino Community College.

RESPONSIBILITIES (Program Assistant)

  • Provide support at concerts & theater events, receptions, auctions, fundraiser, and First Friday ArtWalk (some evening and weekend work required)
  • Assist Program staff on planning and coordinating special events at the Coconino Center for the Arts
  • Provide support for ArtWalk business recruitment and promotion each month
  • Create online box office management for all concerts
  • Write copy for press list and for website for all special events
  • Assist with recruiting & tracking volunteers, as well as volunteer communication
  • Help manage & other online events calendars
  • Computer proficiency, with specific proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Assist with the annual Viola Awards gala

RESPONSIBILITIES (Graphic Design Assistant)

  • Design promotional publications for events, concerts and activities associated with the Coconino Center for the Arts, First Friday ArtWalk, and other programs, including advertisements, flyers, web graphics and information graphics
  • Design exhibition related vinyl lettering and banners
  • Assist with website content, design and management
  • Assist with email promotion content and design
  • Follow existing branding guidelines to create cohesive marketing materials
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, required
  • Other duties as instructed

RESPONSIBILITIES (Exhibitions Assistant)

  • Provide support with exhibition installations for six exhibitions per year
  • Provide support for exhibition management, including label creation, communications, database management and more
  • Serve as liaison to artists for exhibition support
  • Prepare presentations for juries and/or advisory meetings
  • Help manage & other online events calendars
  • Provide support and volunteer management for receptions and special events
  • Other duties as instructed

RESPONSIBILITIES (Membership Assistant)

  • Update and maintain the Non-Profit contact and membership database using salesforce
  • Assist with membership promotion
  • Must be able to work between 9am-2pm
  • Creative planning for membership appeals and campaigns

RESPONSIBILITIES ( Marketing Intern: shared with the Convention and Visitor Bureau)

  • This is a shared intern position requiring 10-12 hours per week split between the Flagstaff Convention & Visitors Bureau (City of Flagstaff Tourism Agency) and the Flagstaff Arts Council.
    Familiar with Social Media Platforms: Facebook, Twitter, Hootsuite.
  • Assist in formatting and optimizing of photos for web.
  • Manage Flagstaff 365 listings through acquisition and promotion.
  • Applicant should be willing to talk with event holders and visitor based businesses.
  • This position will require excellent grammar and proofreading skills.
  • Strong writing skills; effective in-person and phone communication style; computer skills, must be detail oriented, professional and dependable.
  • Strong knowledge of the Flagstaff area, a plus.
