fromaboveday_hiresFlagstaff has a chance to receive $25,000 in funding to support free concerts on Heritage Square in Downtown. Levitt Pavilions, a non-profit arts foundation based on Los Angeles, will fund free concert series in 10 different cities through the Levitt AMP Grant Awards.

The Levitt AMP Grant Awards are a new matching grant opportunity created by Levitt Pavilions to serve small to mid-sized cities up to 400,000 people. 10 nonprofits, or municipalities partnering with a nonprofit, will receive up to $25K each in matching funds to produce the Levitt AMP Music Series—an outdoor, free concert series featuring a diverse lineup of professional musicians.

The first round of consideration comes with a public, online vote. The top twenty cities receiving votes will advance to full consideration by the Levitt Pavilions team.

The Friday nights concert series, Summer Nights on the Square, takes place in the heart of downtown, providing entertainment opportunities for the community and visitors. Heritage Square in downtown Flagstaff serves as a hub of activity, surrounded by shops, eateries and bars. The square is a community gathering space, and the Flagstaff Arts Council aims to provide quality musical and performing groups for weekly shows throughout the summer. The series showcases live performers each Friday evening from Memorial Day through Labor Day for an average of 20 concerts per year. Our goal in producing the series is to expand downtown Flagstaff’s summer profile, giving visitors and residents reason to go downtown and spend dollars to strengthen Flagstaff businesses. Historic downtown Flagstaff celebrates local business and in providing free entertainment. The Arts Council encourages visiting and spending downtown. The series is also an avenue for up-and-coming musical acts to gain increased visibility in the community which is another goal of The Arts Council’s presentation of the concerts.
