The popular annual exhibition, It’s Elemental, opens this weekend at the Coconino Center for the Arts. The annual juried show features jewelry, ceramics, glasswork, wood, furniture, fabric, sculpture and more from the finest craftspeople in Northern Arizona.

There will be a members-only Preview Reception on Friday, November 14, 6-8 p.m., that includes a 10% discount on purchases of artwork for all members of the Flagstaff Arts Council, who will be the first to see the 2014 show. You can become a member ($35 and up) here. Members may bring a guest or two to the event (the 10% discount, however, only applies to members). There will be live music by Chris Jamison, as well as dessert and sparkling wine as we celebrate the past year of successes at the Flagstaff Arts Council.

There will also be a Public Reception for It’s Elemental on Saturday, Nov. 15, 6-8 p.m. with live music by Matt Bingham and food and drink.

Our Christmas Tree will be in the lobby and features It’s Ornamental, with dozens of hand-crafted ornaments by local artists. Ornaments are affordably-priced ($5-25), with all proceeds supporting exhibitions at the Coconino Center for the Arts.

It’s Elemental is an annual exhibition at the Coconino Center for the Arts, serving as a perfect lead up to the holiday season. It has its roots from the earliest days at the Center, from the mid-1980′s to the mid-1990′s. Back then, the exhibition was titled, “Wood, Fiber, Clay.” The Center closed in the late 1990′s, but when it reopened in 2001, the exhibition returned with its current name and concept.

The Fine Craft Sale is scheduled for December 6-7, and features 20 local artists selling jewelry, pottery, scarves, clothing and hand-crafted new work perfect for the holiday season.
