Michele Ralston, my nominee for the Viola Award has emerged from a cocoon as a butterfly since moving to Flagstaff in 2010. Her commitment to learning new skills and perfecting many characters in supporting roles gives added depth to the entire production. Michele was a lively Ouiser Boudreaux in “Steel Magnolias” and a sympathetic Ms Brown in “All the More to Love”. She continued in 2013 to challenge herself in both musical and dramatic roles with Studio Bella Voce (“Amahl and the Night Visitors”), Flagstaff Light Opera, Theatrkcos (“A Few Good Men” and “It’s a Wonderful Life”), and the Deserets (“Oliver”).
I am not involved in the performing arts except as an audience member, but know Michele originally as a visual artist and am amazed at her ability to translate her creative talents in this new form.
