Become a volunteer with the Flagstaff Arts Council! Our volunteers assist with art exhibitions, concerts, First Friday ArtWalk, and all of our art and culture programs. We have a variety of committees that assist with grant review, development, finance, the Viola Awards Gala, and more. Best of all, our volunteers have FUN.
Here are some ways you can get involved!
The Flagstaff Arts Council is always looking for volunteers to help run our many concerts and performances throughout the year. Duties at these events include taking and selling tickets, ushering and more. This is a great volunteer opportunity for people who enjoy interacting with the public, and it is a way to experience some amazing performances for free!
Viola Awards Volunteer
The Viola Awards is an awards gala put on by the Flagstaff Arts Council every year to recognize outstanding artists, educators and organizations. Many volunteers are needed to make this gala event run smoothly. Duties include running the silent auction, promoting memberships and raffle tickets and more. The event is a great opportunity to mingle with many of Flagstaff’s finest artists.
The Coconino Center for the Arts hosts up to seven art exhibitions each year and volunteers are needed to help with the transition between exhibitions. This is a perfect volunteer opportunity for people who are interested in curatorial careers, have the ability to perform heavy labor, and want to engage in the creative process of designing a 4000 sq. ft. gallery. Under the direction of the curator, volunteers will engage in moving walls, painting, and getting ready for exhibition openings.
Gallery Greeters are needed to welcome the public into our galleries at the Coconino Center for the Arts. We are looking for volunteers who are friendly, enthusiastic, interested in art history and the personal stories behind the art pieces, and enjoy interacting with others.
Art Walk Ambassador
The Flagstaff Arts Council seeks enthusiastic and personable volunteers to join us for the First Friday Art Walk. Volunteers will be stationed throughout downtown on the night of Art Walk and will be available to give out maps and answer any questions from the public. This is a perfect chance to interact with the community and become more involved in one of Flagstaff’s most celebrated monthly events.
Volunteers are needed to help with general upkeep of the facilities and grounds at the Coconino Center for the Arts. Duties will include clean up and maintenance of the grounds, garden and building. This is a great opportunity for people who enjoy working outdoors.
The Flagstaff Arts Council has plenty of behind the scenes work that could use the help of a detail oriented volunteer. This volunteer will be in charge of various office tasks such as filing and computer work.
Docent for School Groups
The Flagstaff Arts Council is looking for committed volunteers who will be our connection with schools here in town. These volunteers will be in charge of contacting local schools and arranging school visits to the gallery. Volunteers will provide docent tours to school groups. This is a perfect opportunity for people who are interested in working with students, interested in art history and the personal stories behind the art pieces, and enjoy interacting with others.
