Every First Friday throughout the summer, Heritage Square in historic downtown Flagstaff plays host to events for all ages! Downtown Friday Nights begins May 6 and will continue through October 7. All events are free and open to the public. Heritage Square is located in the heart of Flagstaff’s Historic Downtown and Aspen Avenue between San Francisco and Leroux Streets. DFN-AndersonMay 6th – Peter and Will Anderson – 6-8pm
Jazz saxophonists, Peter and Will Anderson are one of the most extraordinary sibling teams performing music today. They’re known for their exciting arrangements of American jazz classics and fresh original music. Peter and Will attended Juilliard in New York City where they currently reside. They’ve headlined at The Blue Note, Jazz at Lincoln Center, The Kennedy Center, New Orleans Jazz Festival, and Arizona Music Festival. Visit their website >

 


DFN-CirqueJune 3rd – Cirque Roots – 6-8pm
Cirque Roots is a grassroots artist collective based out of Tucson. Based out of a 1910s adobe warehouse in downtown Tucson, Cirque Roots has created space for the community to engage in circus-inspired arts. Founded in 2011, Cirque Roots focuses on performance and education. Their Heritage Square performance will feature an exciting stilt walking routine. Visit their website >

 

 


DFN-Comm-BandJuly 1st – Flagstaff Community Band – 6-7pm
Under the direction of Tim McKay and with musicians from a variety of backgrounds, the Flagstaff Community Band specializes in patriotic music, marches, Broadway show tunes, and traditional band music. Flagstaff School of Music provides musical education for a variety of instruments to students of all ages. The Flagstaff School of Music will be featuring their most proficient students of their Performance Ready Program. DFN-76September 2nd – 76th Street – 6-8pm
Pianist and percussionist Haley Gold and guitarist Spencer Bryant make up the singer/songerwriter duo, 76th Street. They have won state championships and toured throughout the Southwest for audiences ranging from 30 to 3000 people. Grammy Award-nominated Robb Vallier produced their latest single, “You and I,” which features contributions from Rami Jaffee of the Foo Fighters. October 7th – Random Impulse Taiko – 6-8pm
Originating in Flagstaff, Random Impulse Taiko (RIT) joyfully provides workshops, performances and classes in the dramatic art of Japanese Taiko Drumming. RIT events include investigation into ancient origins of Taiko and it’s late 1960’s arrival to America. Hands on drumming experience and vocal participation are also provided for audience members.
