2017 Viola Award Nominee for Excellence in the Performing Arts

On October 1, 2016, Flagstaff band, the Mother Road Trio, presented their CD release party and concert for their debut album On Route 66 at the Coconino Center for the Arts.

Here in Flagstaff, a popular stop along U.S. Route 66, also known as the Mother Road, three local musicians joined up and deeply tapped into the the sense of Americana through music. The trio members– Larry Czarnecki (guitar and vocals), Sammy Mac (harmonica and vocals), and Mike Shiner (Bass and vocals) combine elements of blues, swing, gypsy, soul and jazz into their music, keeping the stories of Route 66 going on in the music.

After elaborate preparation, the trio was excited to put on the release show for their debut album On the Route 66, which is a 10-track album complete with eight original songs and two covers. One of the two cover songs, Get your Kicks on Route 66, opens the album by paying homage to the very road that lends the group its name.

The AZ Daily Sun, in reviewing the popular local band, writes, “the live setting is truly the way to hear them. Tight and full of shared harmonies and vocals, they stay true to the instrumentation, capturing the love for their respective styles of music and that of the highway that runs deep within their sound.”
